honda bf50 fuel pump compatability

hi all,
mate of mine broke down at sea last night and had to be towed in by the lifeboat :facepalm:,

,diagnosed the problem as a broken fuel pump,

now his engine is a bf50 3 cyclinder ,

Question is would a fuel pump from a bf 50 4 cylinder work on his engine or would it be too powerful and over power his carburetors ???

local suppliers are saying its the same pump for both engines but he doesnt want to get towed in again so im just checking for him :joyous:

There is no BF50 4 cyl, they are all 3 cyl. The 75 and 90 are 4 cyl. Now if we are talking all carburated motors, the 3 and 4 cyl fuel pumps are interchangable. There are different versions depending on the year where some are all metal and some are part plastic but they are all versions of the same pump and will work.

The fuel pumps and vapor seperators on the fuel injected motors are different and will not interchange.
