Hello all, I have a Honda BF45, and ever since I got it (used, with ~100 hours), it has a problem during acceleration where it hesitates, sputters, and most of the time stalls out.

This only happens at a very specific RPM, around 2500, and it happens even if I increase the revs very very slowly. Below 2500 rpms it works perfectly, and if I can get past 2500 RPM it also works perfectly. It just seems like there's a "barrier" there that's hard to get past.

I’ve searched this forum and found some situations that mention hesitation during acceleration, and potential causes mentioned include dirty carbs, accelerator pump circuit clogged, and accel pump cylinder seized. Could one of these also cause my issue?

I’m not 100% sure how accelerator pumps work, and if they are still a factor if you accelerate very slowly.

Thanks!

Not sure about accelerator pumps during slowly acceleration. But your trouble does sound like dirty carbs or you are sucking air. It sounds like when you go from slow speed jets to high speed jets your mixture is not rich enough. Could also be the symptom of low fuel bowl floats.
