I've heard this is a common problem with the Honda BF25 outboard motor. When I troll at slow speeds the crankcase increases volume, gas I think. I hear this is because it does not run hot enough when trolling. I dont think this should happen, I bought this motor for all purposes, speed and trolling. I am disipointed that I cannot use my Honda to troll due to this issue.

Does anyone know a solution to this problem?

All responses are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Neal

Periodically run at a higher RPM to keep the engine temp up, run 10w-30 and do not use synthetic oil.

Howdy, ndrown.

Welcome to iboats. :)

"Making oil" by adding gas is a problem common to almost all 4 stroke outboards that are not operated at full operating temp. Cold water, extended low speeds and low temp thermostats are usually the cause.

Read the article on 4 strokes "Making oil" in the Engine FAQs.
