A few months ago I purchased a brand new 2008 Honda 20hp outboard.
tiller control model which I installed on my 14ft. crestliner. After going To the local boat show I saw that Crestliner makes a side console. So I went back to the dealer were I purchased a motor and inquired about converting my engine to remote control instead of tiller.

I am told That the conversion will cost approximately $1,000.00 and that is almost impossible to do.

I have been a Honda outboard owner for about ten years my other boat has a 90hp Honda.

Now I have looked at my motor and as far as I?m concerned installing the throttle and shift cable is pretty straightforward. The steering is not a big deal either it requires a new to be mounted to the front of the motor.

The dealer told me that I needed to change the CDI unit. And many other things.

I find this ridiculous and so stupid, that Honda would do something so dumb it?s just beyond my imagination.

As I was leaving the dealership in a very bad mood I asked him how much would you give me for my motor. He told me that trade in I might get $2,000.00 now mind you I just bought the motor less than two months ago and it has less than twenty hours. And I paid Over $4,000.00.

Does anybody have any suggestions
