Forgive me as I know very little about boats/motors. I bought this new in 2017 as part of a boat motor package. On the port side of the motor just below the cowling there is a small drainage tube I can only assume is for some sort of cooling system that dumps water back into the lake. Somehow there is fuel getting into that system. I live in Wyoming and don’t have a certified Honda mechanic anywhere in the state. Doubt it would be covered under warranty anyways because I have a feeling it was due to improper winterization. What else do you need in order to diagnose...thoughts on what needs repaired/replaced? Thank you.

I think you may be talking about what is often known as the pisser (for somewhat obvious reasons). It's main purpose in life is to tell you that the water pump is functioning.

If the motor is running, in the water or on a set of muffs, a steady stream of water should be coming from this line. If not, more than 90% of the time it's due to an obstruction. The most common being caused by a busy mud dauber/wasp. They absolutely love to build nests in that tube. The nice thing is that they are easily cleaned/cleared with just a piece of wire pushed in 6" or so.

A healthy stream of water is coming out but there is fuel in it as well. No obstructions.

Then I'm struggling with the tube you're speaking of. Have you had the cowl off to see where this hose leads? Could it be a carb drain tube?

Or are you saying you have fuel mixing with the water?

A picture might help.

Green arrow pointing to the drainage port. Yes there is water and fuel mixing somewhere in the motor and the mixture is draining here. I’m positive the “pisser” you’re talking about is accurate... I can follow it back to the bowels of the engine but I couldn’t tell the diff between a carb and a flux capacitor.

Sorry, I'm not familiar enough with that engine to be of any help.
