I have a Honda BF100 that was running badly. I removed the carb, took it apart, soaked in varsol, blew through all the jets and passages with compressed air. I cleaned and gapped the plugs.
The motor still seems to idle a little rough and must be running too rich as the plugs are a bit sooty. I have adjusted the mixture screw so the the RPMs are maximized then I adjusted the idlw screw to about 950.
HAve i missed something or done something wrong?

How did you determine that idle speed? If you are in fact idleing this engine at 950 ,that is way below spec and the engine just wo'nt run well.Spec is 1200.

Hondon,
I don't have a tack so I was adjusting the speed so that it doesn't crunch when put in reverse. I was told spec was 950 - so much for my local expert. No matter, it's idling a bit better now. I discovered a small cut in the fuel line coming into the carb and cut off that piece and reattached the good part to the carb.
