Hi guys, I have a couple questions. I have a BF100 10 hp, 4 stroke outboard. It has a broken handle. (tiller handle) I looked online and they are not available, at least from what I could find. Is this a part that a full line Honda dealer would have? Is it even possible to get one anymore? My next questions is if that piece is cast aluminum, or cast magnesium? If they part isn't available, I would have to weld it back together. Also is it possible that another part from a newer motor that is available would fit on this motor? Thanks for your help.

Re: Honda BF100 outboard handlebar

Without knowing the year, it is difficult to say. Go to this site and look, they seem to have best selection. I would think the cheapest(as we all want) way for a repair is to try to find a parts motor. I think you will find that the part is going to cost more than the motor is worth if it is (really) old.

Sorry I should have been more clear. I had already looked at that site, and yes they do have a good selection of parts, but no dice on this one. I have a serial number, but I do not know the year for sure. BF100s-1300642.

I would guess about 1980.

Check eBay! They often have guys parting out motors...who knows, you might get lucky!

That tiller has not changed in along time and is the same handle as the current BF8A with the exception of paint and conceivably the location of the kill switch. Most Honda dealers have a couple of these engines in the boneyard and are happy to part them out.
