I've got a BF100F Honda which I love - but spend alot of time fishing above 7000 ft in altitude - which it hates. I was wondering if anyone knew whether it was possible boost the horsepower in these engines. Another 5 horses would make a huge diff when fishing the high lakes.

If they are 10hp lakes you are out of luck.

There is nothing you can do about thin air except supercharge.

If they are not 10hp lakes, swap for a 15.

Good luck. :)

Carbs for this engine, brand new from Honda are really quite cheap and the swap is easy. Why not have a carb jetted for altitude and one for not?

Thanks for the feedback you guys! Yeah, sounds like Hondon has the hot ticket. I can recarb for trout and Kokanee until the late summer salmon bite is on at the coast. Only problem is the parts guys here at the Bend Honda dealer are kindof clueless and will probably give me that lab puppy look when I ask them for a high-altitude carbie. Know any good dealers who have this all dialed in already?

Re: Honda BF100 More horsepower

I checked with the dealership. New carb is $101.00. Not bad considering.........They didn't list high altitude jets for this carb on their microfiche. Checking in my shop manual it says the standard jet is #88, but again, no reference to optional jets in in the manual. Does anyone know if optional jets are available through Honda, or any other source?
