I have always placed Dolphins or the Sea Ray version on my out boards, with good luck. Just purhcased a Hurrican 198RE with the new Honda 130. All is great except this is a little heavy Tri-hull deck boat, and it is a bit slow out of the hole and it does take some speed to keep it on plane. I have tried numberous props, reduced crew size and still, slow out of the hole and up on plane. I spoke to several Honda techs and they said NOT to put anything on this motor. Confussed, don't see a big deal with doing so, I know the product will help? Anyone know of some bad effects this would cause a 4-stroke? They always helped the numerous 2 strokes I have owned, don't know why the Honda would be any different? They lower the Bow, reduce out of the whole speed, and keep you on on plane with less speed, perfect for me????

I would go for it, I have used them on many motors, none on a honda though. Just my 2 cents.

River
I wouldn't put anything on your New motor until the Warranty is out. Might give them cause to deny a claim if you have trouble. Besides, I cringe when I think about drilling the plate on a new motor...

Ahoy, River Family.

Another option is trim tabs that mount to the boat, not the engine. They will do about the same as a hydrofoil but cost as lot more.

I have seen boats that habitually carry heavy loads with both tabs and hydrofoil.

Good luck. :)
