Well one problem is now fixed so on to the other. On the flywheel there are 2 marks, one labeled T and the other labeld F. The F mark extends down the side of the flywheel. Now here is my question which mark is the cam mark supposed to line up with?

The t line on the flywheel aligns with the risen arrow on the rear pull starter boss. The dot on the cam pulley aligns with a similar looking dot stamped on the head just in front of the pulley.

Hey Thanks, now all I have to do is get a pully puller to get the flywheel off!

Why are we pulling the flywheel off?

Apparently for no reason! There is not sufficient spark to get the engine runnning, I was looking for the points which I thought might be under the flywheel, but apparently not. Is it just a one piece ignition system that would need to be replaced??

Yeah I found it in my searches.........I did take the flywheel off and found nothing, then found the points under the cam pulley!

so just to be double sure the "T" line not the "F" line is supposed to line up with the mark on the flywheel casing?

Since you have an ancient engine that still needs points, things can get a little dicey. The t mark on a cdi ignition denotes top dead center and is where the vavle adjustment is set.You do'nt have cdi so you are now timeing this unit with the f mark on the flywheel. For that you will need an adequate ohms meter to guage when the points are open or closed.By turning the engine over by hand with the plugs out you should see the points go open at the f mark on the flywheel.
