Having problems with my late model B75.. This unit sat for long time unused so I disassembled carb for cleaning... This was spotless inside.. Checked all jets and float operation... All seems ok... When I start it with choke, it runs about 10 seconds then stalls... If I have it started and then remove choke it seems to stall even quicker... The float bowl always seems to have fuel since there is a drain valve to check this.. (I believe this suggests the fuel pump and float needle are working?)

Can anyone suggest anything... The carb seemed clean yet I wasn't able to get to the drilled passages..

I tried to order feul pump diaphrams and float needle just as a precaution but apparently these parts are discontinued??? (price had they been available = $86 and $29 respectively) WOW.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting and can parts be crossreferenced from other after market brands?

thanks..

Get a can of Sea Foam and mix it in your gas. I mixed it heavy the first couple of time. I have a BF100 which is ecentually the same engine. Makae sure you start with fresh gas. Check the fuel line from the tank to the connector. It should have NO air leaks. Also the connector may be loose, in which case I connected mine direct. If i can help further give me a hollar.

lee

Sta-bil will work also. Take the carb apart and clean it with spray carb cleaner. The float neelde valve and the other one by the idle screw. I took that one out and cleaned it up sprayed the hole with carb cleaner. Re adjust it by running on high idle and turning it in till it starts to stall then back it out about a 1/2 turn or so. Also go here to de-card your motor...http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=36;t=000006

I used Deep Creep and it works great!

lee

Re: Honda B75 (7.5 HP) Help!

Thanks for all the input on this one... I liked the Sea Foam idea so much I also ran it through my more frequently used 15HP Yamaha...

The problem was more specifically something I missed when first fooling with it.... It seems the float bowl vent hose was plugged with some sort of an insect cacoon... It would not allow proper venting so therefore would create a vacuum inside the float bowl....

A bit of compressed air through the tube and the Honda hasn't missed a beat since...

Thanks for all the help and reassuring me I could fix it myself..

tj..
