Honda B100 idles fine,refuses to throttle up in gear.

Early 80s B100. CDI. Out of the blue died at W.O.T.
Limped back to the dock at an idle. Sometimes will open up in neutral, but refuses to powerup in either forward or reverse. Someone suggested a bad microswitch which prevents over revs in reverse. Anyone familiar? I can put put around all day at an idle but nothing above that. Pretty sure on quality of fuel.

There are no over rev capabilities with this engine.Start with the basics. What are your compression numbers?.Is there ignition to both cylinders?Is there any gearoil in the gearcase?How old is that fuel?How much of a load are you putting this little girl up against?Will this change with the engine cover off?
