My tach is erratic. With motor idleing, it can range from 600 to 4,000 and back. Motor runs fine and all else seems ok. Just started. Engine is a 1999 with 198 hours.

Any suggestions?

What kind of tch do you have? Honda blue back faria? If so another thing to check is the switch for the pole settings, I have moved them to another position and moved them back and it went to working fine, make sure you slightly push on the switch to move it to another setting and when you move it back make sure it locks in...

Hope this helps

thanks, this sounds like a possibility. I have a Honda tach with engine hours meter - where do I find the pole switch?
