Carbs have set up for a very long time with gas. Repair shop has had them off 4 times and tried to clean them. Boat will start but runs extremly rich, adjustment seems to have little to no effect. Intial setting about two turns from bottem position. No Honda dealer in this state (NM). Can anyone provide some help/advice. Honda Repair shop about 400 mile from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have tuned and balanced motorcyle carbs in the past and do have a mercury balance tool with four carb points.

Try a long soak in carburetor cleaner...Chances are they are using the spray tune crap.

Re: Honda 90 four stroke carb problem

I feel you pain!! Just spent 2 weeks getting mine working correctly. Here is my findings..
make sure you can blow through the long jet that goes through the throat of the carb.. this ended up being my main problem even after an overnight soak had to keep blasting it with Chem B12 carb cleaner till it busted through
next - make sure carbs are synced .. if carb butterfly is not open at idle it will have the same effect as clogged jet.
Hope this helps

There are not many things that will make an engine run rich.If you have isolated all mechanical possibilities[poor compression, improper valve lash, sub standard fuel,a misfireing spark plug, etc ad nauseum]and are convinced you have carb issues and you likley do you might consider just replacing the offending carb since cleaning has gotten you nowhere.Honda carbs are cheap but you will still have to sync this unit after installation.
