I have a '85 Honda 9.9 (BF100)that starts first time with the choke out but refuses to idle. When warm it will rev high with the choke half in then die. It ran rough last year, but now won't idle.
I did not drain the carb last year and assumed a gung build up. I cleaned the fuel pump filter, replaced the inline fuel filter and cleaned the carb. I suspected an air leak between the carb and manifold and applied gasget gung.

The idle screw seems to have no effect on how the motor idles. I am guessing that either I still have a blocked passage in the carb or maybe my valves need adjusting?

I plan to soak the carb in cleaner. Should I remove the plastic choke butterfly and any other parts?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Jack
