Honda 9.9 HP 4 Stroke Desperate for Help

I have a Honda 9.9 HP 4 stroke. I believe it is either a 1999, 0r 2000. The engine runs fine when idleing. When I put it into gear to get under way it runs for about 2 mins then just stalls. I pump the fuel ball, pull the starting cord 1 or 2 times and it starts right up and runs. Put it into gear and run, it will stall in about 2 mns. If I sit there and pump the fuel ball continuously it keeps on running until I stop pumping it. I have replaced tanks, fuel line. Cleaned the filter. I recently started hewaring a high pitch whistle when it shuts down? Can anyone out there help me with some ideas?<br /><br />Thanks a lot...<br /><br />Rick..

Hi nutmegjailer,<br /><br />Fuel pump probably needs to be rebuilt.<br /><br />You would get expert help if you posted in the Honda repair section.

Mod2,<br /><br /> I tried to get into the Honda reapir section and could not. I am not exactly the best on the computer. Do you see this as a big problem with my motor?

I had this same problem with my 9.9 Honda. I finally got pissed at it and ran it full throttle and pumped the fuel bulb to keep it running. Then I heard a loud POP and then it ran normal. <br />The pop was the crank case breather hose blowing off the engine. Turns out a bug crawled inside the vent and plugged it up.<br />Ran great ever since.<br />HTH -greg
