I have a older honda 9.9 with a output plug on the side and have no power coming out. Checked fuses and all looks good. All other functions are good, wires look fine but no juice. We use as kicker for trolling and want to charge a deep cycle while the main is off.Any Ideas would be a big help! Also the wire harness that came with the motor has no +or- marked on the wires just a brown on both leads. How do I determine what is the pos-neg?

You must put output onto a battery and take a reading from that. Check rectifier with a multimeter. Don`t know what the resistance values are though. The rectifiers get fried when people put a light or something straight off the output terminals. The rectifier has heat sinks on it. If dud it may read open circuit.

As you look at the plug face on the engine the positive connection is on the left. Check for markings with the rubber cover pulled back and colour code the wires to your battery.

Lexi,
Thanks for the help. I'll give it a try this weekend. I just hate to take it to our local dealer that I do not trust.I have had issues with these people from day 1.Tried to buy a fuel connection recently and they told me I must convert the system to the new connecters all around. 2 calls to others and found what I needed for $5.00.
Thanks Again.
