Was out in the boat and everything was running fine. Ran the motor for over an hour.

Then was idling in an area and the motor cut off.

When I restarted I had very little power in forward, almost trolling speed.

I just replaced the gas tank, lines and have new gas that week.

Fuel pump maybe??

Any ideas?

There is an entire menu of things that might be causing this .Why the fuel revamp? How long have you had this unit and what have you had done to it?Will it now start and run until a certain point or is this an intermittant problem? When is the last time you changed that oil and how often do you use this thing? That ought to get us started.

My other tank had a hole in it. The other fuel line also had a leak and would not allow gas to the engine.

I have had it for about four years and it was used when I got it. It had to be tuned up and the water pump on the side of the engine had to be cleaned out.

A couple of years ago it would not start and there was some kind of minor electrical part that had to be replaced.

I change the oil once a year.

I use it maybe 30-40 hours per year.

It will start, but not run up to full power in forward, but will idle fine.

Yesterday I took off the fuel pump to inspect it and now it won't start at all.

That's what would happen if I took the fuel pump off. I guess that is why their are repair shops.

I took off the carb and cleaned it out, even though it was not very dirty, and got it started again, but it still is very sluggish in forward.

Is there anyone that would be willing to take a guess at what is wrong?

I believe that s a two cylinder.

Do you have spark on both cylinders?

First of all ,take a look at the throttle cables and linkage and make sure that you are mechanically achieving WOT when you want it.Cables age and things bind that might be causing your syptoms. Then we are back to the overall health of this engine. Are the valves adjusted and adjusted cold by someone accustom to using a feeler gauge? Is that compression or leakdown test something remarkable? The esteemed Admiral should know that this unit operates with a lost spark ignition.Lose one you lose them both.

That is a good question and I thought about checking that because it seems that the loss of power could be from only one cylinder firing.

I guess I will just take it to a shop and have them fix it.
