Hello;
I have a 1998 Honda BF8 outboard.
I just bought a remote throttle/shift/steering adapter kit (Honda #3515970) from my local Honda dealer.
When I ordered the kit, they told me that complete installation instructions come with it. However, when the kit arrived, it had no instructions whatsoever (just a bag of parts). I asked about the instructions, and was told that they don't come with the kit, it needs to be installed by professionals (them).
Can anybody help me find a mechanical diagram showing how this kit goes on?
Thank you very much.

You will have a hard time finding info on the Hondas. You may want to consider calling 3 different dealers and get quotes on the installation.

Re: Honda 8hp remote kit help?

It's quite easy to fit. The big kinda C shaped plate bolts on using the handle mounting bolts, and 2 smaller ones which bolt into the handle itself. (The folded over piece of metal goes topside). Control cables are clamped on by little brackets which attach to the folded over piece of metal (throttle) and the upright section (gears). The cable ends are a brass square section with a threaed hole at one end (throttle) and a black plastic block with metal sliding clip (gear). The throttle cable goes through the grommet in the under case, and then the stepped bolt goes through the throttle arm and screws into the brass cable end. The black plastic block slots onto the gear lever and the clip slides back locking into the little groove.

Hope that helps a bit! Sounds much harder than it is!
