honda 8 h.p. motor not warming up

I have a 2000 honda 8 h.p. motor and the water coming out of the water line does not get warm and the side of the cylinder is luke warm. I suspect a stuck thermostat. Does anyone have any ideas of where the thermostat is on this motor and the procedure for replacing it? The motor is loading up at an idle which i believe is caused by the thermostat not opening and causing build up in the motor. Runs fine off of idle just really rough at idle. If anyone could help it would be great. Thanks.

Round or Square hood?

If square it is located at the top of the inlet manifold, looks kinda pear shaped, 2 bolts either side and it will come off. (probably need tapping as they get very tight)
