Honda 75 engine up & down like yoyo

I left the 1999 4-stroke engine in the down position, but next morning it was in the fully up position, and the battery was flat. Am I correct in suspecting salt water corrosion in the engine up/down switch as the most likely cause, and is the switch easily removed?

check switch on motor and t-controls
i forget if u have solenoid or relays, check those also
