HONDA 7.5 weak spark?

I'm looking at a used boat that has a Honda 7.5hp motor. I was told the motor is a BF75 1985. It was stored at the end of the season running now it won't start. He says it has weak spark. Any clues what it could be? major? minor?<br />thanks

cd ignition is not that hard i would start by checking all wire connections then check for grounds, corrosion is commom during storage.<br />if that doesnt work you may have a component failure grab a service manual and happy testing.

These engines roll off the assembly line with some pretty cold ignition.What is your reference in determining weak ignition output?

Actually the guy that owns it currently told me it had weak spark. I'll have a better idea when I go see it. He may feel it has weak spark since it didn't start. Could be as simple as a low battery I would think(hope)

I brought this motor home tonight. On the 3rd pull is started, then stalled. It did this one more time after sitting a couple of hours. It obviously has spark. Could be fuel? I'm a car guy not an outboard guy. I think I need to go find a manual. Any clues on these that occur often?

The rules work the same as car things.You know you've got spark so what is left?Got compression?Got fuel?We have,nt really gotten to exhaust yet.

I pulled the plugs tonight between the rain drops. The lower plug was soaked while the upper looked white as new and dry. I also noticed some moisture in the lower. I pulled the carb and did find the low jet clogged. I'll put it back together tomorrow and go from there.

I did get this thing running but have to keep the choke half way out to keep it running. Idle will not go down without stalling. Anything I can look for?
