This 1986 runs great except if left unattended for 1-2 months, the carb requires a clean, blow, pianowire for it to idle. Otherwise, it won't idle. I run the motor after use until all the gas burns off in the carb. Does this carb gum up so easily? Is seafoam the answer? I buy the gas at the marina, doesn't it have the needed additives? By the way, i have the original service manual and have kept the motor upkeep quite well. help...mel

Re: honda 7.5 HP

you might benefit from adding stabil to the fuel.

The engine I have (early 80s honda 7.5) is a kicker for my sailboat and I run about 2 gallons of fuel through it each year. We'll run it for about 5 minutes to get us in or out of the marina if the winds aren't favorable for a launch or landing, then it may sit for weeks without ever being started again, and we never bother to run the fuel out of it. Never had any problems with the carb.
