Honda 7.5 hp Got it Smooth, Now No Spark

I just bought a used 7.5 hp which ran rough and did not want to idle down. Cleaning the plugs didn't help, but cleaning the needle valve port on the carb did the trick. It smoothed out and would then idle down. I was all set, I thought!

I put the cover back on and from then on I've not been able to get it to restart. It won't so much as cough.

It became obvious early on that it wasn't a fuel problem, but an electrical problem. I first checked all the wiring to be sure I hadn't accidentally pulled something apart. Everything is intact and connected as it should be.

I then checked to see if I was getting spark...Nothing...Zilch.

Anyone have an idea as to whether this is a coil problem, a CDI unit problem, or something else?

Thanks for any help you can give!

You may have a neutral safety switch depending on vintage.Way older engines did not.If that switch fails it will offer you up a no ignition output situation.

Yes, it does have a Nuetral Safety Switch. Is there a way to troubleshoot it to know whether or not that's the issue?

Thanks very much for your help!

Thanks for your help on this...I see that the manual is for motors that are larger than the 7.5 hp that I had, but likely will still help.

If you're interested, I trimmed down the manual pdf document so it has only the English, reducing it to under 300 pages from the 655 pages.
