Hello Everyone,

1) I purchased this motor second hand. Is there a maintenance manual for this motor posted somewhere? I've changed the crankcase oil and I've yet to change the oil. I was wondering what else to do.

2) While changing the crankcase oil I noticed a third screw beside the oilfill screw labled "Wash". Can anyone tell me what this is for?

thanks,

dwight

Re: Honda 5hp 4 stroke maintenance/Wash hole

Well I found the Honda owners manual. They are available free on download here: http://www.honda-marine.com/mar_pages/bf5.aspx

I assume if you have a different model just swap it for the bf5 and give it a try.

Oh yes, the wash hole is for cleaning and flushing the cooling system. When the engine is out of the water you remove this screw and attach a fresh water hose (using an adapter from the flush kit). Turn the water on and you can start and run the engine in neutral.

I hope this helps someone.

dwight
