Hey Everyone!

There is a 2003 model tiller 50hp Honda for sale in the Boat Motors section of this site that has caught my attention. This would be awesome on my Jon boat :D . What are everyone’s opinions on this purchase, would this be a wise choice? I need a motor that will last forever and with good maintenance I think the Honda will. That is an awfully high amount of money to pay for a motor sight unseen  . But I’m thinking it’s a Honda! Does anyone really know if these motors really are broken in correctly or would I be buying a motor scarred for life?

I realize this maybe a waste of time since I’m not quite ready to buy yet but just incase its still there when the time comes  .

Thanks,
Jon Boater

Jon Boater,

I have heard nothing but good things about the engines purchased from iboats.

Not all motors throughout a manufactures line-up are choice. Certain sizes contain all the engineering elements to make it unique and very desirable. The BF50 is one of these engines, hearty, smooth, lightweight and reliable.
My BF50 has been outstanding.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy from iboats either.

I'm not 100% sure, but I heard that the Honda 50 is one of the lightest 4-strokes out there. Contrary to this, the 90 is one of the heaviest.

Check out the weight. If its a 2003, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

BF50 tiller model is 203lbs. With a power tilt/trim it'll be 212lbs.
The remote controlled model is 198lbs.
