Just brought bf50 to Denver, owners manual suggest carb. adj. above 5000ft, most local dealers recommend propping down, any suggestions. I am a bit of a motor head and am not dumb enough to run motor at low elevation without re-adjusting carb. Is pilot and main jet replacement necessary or is there a simple adjustment. I would prefer a safe approach. I have yet to run the motor-it may do fine.

First of all ,try it ,who knows? On a nice warm spring day that thing could work flawlessly for you.Propping is an optioin but is a temporary fix if things do'nt work out .Your best alternative is to find someone intimate with these engines in that geograghy and take that advice.

Thank you, that is exactly what I am going to do. At times I get anal about wanting to have an engine run at its absolute best regardless of the altitude. This comes from snowmobiling at altitude befor EFI.
