Honda 40... why when shifting...

the gears smack together like no one's business. It's a fairly new motor, 18 mo's with probably about 50 hours on it.<br /><br />Is there an adjustment I can make? By the way, I do shift quickly, not slowly.<br /><br />Thanks guys.

The idle speed might be to high, try lowering the idle and see if that makes a differance.<br />Nick

Thanks Nick, I'll try it. Come to think about it, the boat doesn't troll very well, it's a tad too fast.<br /><br />Thanks again.
