Honda 40/45HP lower unit interchangability

I have a 1994 Honda BF45 4 Stroke outboard with a crack in the lower unit round portion near the propeller. <br /><br />I have an offer of a 2000 Honda 40HP engine that has a blown powerhead but is otherwise OK.<br /><br />Does anyone know if that lower unit (2000/40HP) will fit my engine (1994/45HP) ??<br /><br />Honda stopped making 35/45 HP engines in 1995 or 1996 and began their current series of 40/50 HP engines. <br /><br />Any help would be appreciated?

Did you find an answer to your question? I have exactly the same problem. Damaged lower unit on my Honda 45 and looking for a replacement. Wondering if one from a Honda 40 or Honda 50 will fit...?
