I recently purchaced a 2hp honda. When the 10 hour break in period was over I change the oil. I removed 400ml from the engin then checked the manual as to how much to replace it stated 250ml. I also found during the first 10 hours of operation anytime I laid the motor down ( on the correct side) or even tipped it up on the boat oil would run out of it. did the dealer put too much oil in or do they come filled to the dealer over filled? And did I put enough oil in? The amount of oil I installed brought the sight glass to the proper mark. And it was origonally over the top. Can some one tell me if I should be riping a strip off my dealer or is this normal practice?

Re: honda 2hp oil

You do'nt need to rip into anyone for either overfilling or underfilling that oilpan. That sight glass is subjective at best and requires some patience to get it to the half way mark.Spillage on refill is also an issue and hard to clean up entirely. After sitting relaxed and level for awhile that sight glass should be half full and holds only about a pint.
