Re: Honda 2hp Bf2 Lower End Removal Problem
I have the shop manual. Just shows one bolt on the front side going down, and one bolt on the rear side going up through the cavitation plate to hold the gearcase to the extension case. Of course, the shaft is externally splined into the gearcase and internally splined on to the crankshaft. Also there's the water tube which slips into a rubber grommet at the water pump. Torque to tighten the two bolts is 5.8 to 8.7 ft-lb. Maybe the splines have been connected so long that some force must be applied?
The impeller slips over a pin passing through the shaft. Slid the impeller up the shaft. Slip the pin out of the shaft, the slide the impeller down off the shaft. After installing the new impeller on the shaft, the impeller must be seated into the pump liner while rotating the shaft clockwise looking from above. The impeller vanes must bend away, arch back, from the direction of rotation (clockwise from above).
My engine is a 1997. It was my kicker on a sailboat. Now I use it as my backup to my F9.9 Yamaha on my aluminum boat. So it has very low hours. Original impeller still works fine. So I've never tried replacing it. Only trouble I've had with the motor is the carburetor requiring cleaning.
Good luck.
