Can anyone shed some light on my 75hp four stroke stalling and studdering when then throttle is advance swiftly? Its on a 2180dlx carolina skiff.

I have changed the water sep. and the filter. I have had the boat at two diff. honda dealers and they have cleaned the carbs 5 times and even tried new carbs with no luck. The last place installed an electic fuep pump because the fuel bulb was going flat and starving the engine at high rpm under a load.

I have also put two new fuel pump(engine) on the motor and replaced all the line and fittings from the tank to the engine.

Is this a fuel air mixture problem? If so, does anyone know the factory settings on the idle mixture screw? Should I get the gas/air mixture checked? WILL the electic fuel pump they installed put to much pressure on the mech fuel pumps and damage them and is this safe? The last place I took it said that all the carbs are insec. and the vaccum was set correctly. They findly just gave up!

Thanks

These motors are set up to run very lean. If any work is done on the carbs, they have to be re-synchronized. The carbs do not have a accelerator pump, they tend to go lean on acceleration. Both my 75 and 90 horse motors need to be throttled up slowly.

These engines DO have an accelerator pump. That electric fuel pump could be a serious safety issue if it is not ignition protected or pressure regulated and in most circumstances would be considered unnessesary.Proping could be an issue or the check valves in that accellerator pump circuit may be stuck open. These engines are a little different than their 2 stroke cousins but can ,will ,and have jumped right out of the hole.
