Hi All;

Total "newbie" question from an "oldie"

Only ever owned 3 other outboards, a British Seagull, a 7 hp long shaft Suzuki and a 9.9 long shaft Evinrude sail boat motor

I recently bought an older used Honda 2HP and was wondering if there are any handbooks on line and also how do i replace the shear pin?

I see the prop has a cotter pin thru it, do i just remove the pin and (hopefully) the prop comes off and the shearpin is under the prop

Re: Honda 2 HP

When you remove the pin you should be able to remove a small cover, this cover retains the shear pin, you will see the shear pin once you take the plastic cap off.

Thanks for the prompt reply and welcome remarks Sloopy, i'll get onto that right after the rain stops (the motor is on the boat and the boat is at the wharf) :)

Re: Honda 2 HP

Just to report, I replaced the shear pin on th 2 horse
I removed the cotter pin going thru the prop and it came right off, there was an aluminimum casting seemingly built into the prop and this was sloted about 1/8" in dia and 1 " long to house the shearpin.

I had to use a small punch to remove the broken pin from the driveshaft, i fitted a new pin, put on the prop and fitted a new cotter pin.

It's about a 10 min job probably 5 mins with practice :D
