Hi guys, just wondering if anyone could advise me of the carb tuning 'magic' for my motor, it's the older style, slide throttle on the face of the motor as opposed to a twist grip.
It seems that from mid throttle position, all the way to full makes no difference in engine rpm.
In other words, all I have is from idle to mid, after that nothing. It does however sound like the motor is labouring and 'just wants to rev up'.
Is this typical of these small motors?
I pulled the cowling off to try and adjust the carb, however, it's buried in the lower half of the engine casing, on the starboard side. There appears to be an adjustment screw, high speed (?), if so how does one get at it as there's about a 1/4 inch gap from the housing to the screw?
If anyone can provide with me with the above, I swear I'll rename my first-born in my next life.
thanx in advance
Rod

Take a look and see whats happening with the carb linkage right at the carb. There is a cast in stop on that carb that the cable should achieve at wide open. The idle to start positions on this engine can be alarming on a canoe or very small boat. From mid to wide open will depend alot on what you are running but this is not an engine made to plane a boat.It is however an excellent utility engine.
