I recently had the opportunity to purchase the motor listed above through an estate sale. The motor is in excellent condition and runs good. I think it was not used much and stored for a while as the estate was settled. I have ordered a service manual and reviewed some of the posts here on the motor, but would appreciate any assistance regarding parts availability or service tips from people with hands on experience. Sometimes the books do not tell you everything you can learn from experience. I changed oil and lower unit fluid and checked spark plugs. Are all the parts available? What would you recommend for me to carry with the motor or stock at home besides the obvious oil and plugs? Thank you in advance for any help.

Re: Honda 1985 BF100 10 HP Questions

I can't speak for your 1985 BF100 but I have the same motor (1978 B100 Serial #1009101) and can tell you that all parts are not available for it.
The basic tuneup parts such as impeller replacement kit, gaskets etc are no problem. I did try to get a Friction Locking Knob for my handle but Honda Canada says it is no longer available. I hope with any luck I won't have to test the available of anything important.
Any Honda Outboard dealer can tell you if a certain part is available or not, provided you can supply them with your serial number.

I am going to bump this back to the top hoping some kind experienced Honda mechanic will help with this question. It's an old motor I know, but I thought I might keep it alive for quite a while longer with proper care if all parts are available. Thanks...Phil
