Gentleman,
I was wondering if there is a high-speed adjustment on my 15hp. I noticed a small needle adjustment towards the upper part of the carb and I think it is for low speed, but wanted to check with you guys. Is this needle for the low-speed fuel circuit or high-speed setting?

There is no high speed mixture adjustment, its a fixed jet. There may be an idle mixture adjustment depending on the model of 15hp, the later models have it capped off by the EPA. If you post the serial number of the motor i can tell you what the idle mixture adjustment supposed to be.

Also these motors will idle much lower then they were designed to. When it idles lower then it was designed to it will not pump oil properly and could cause some major damage. Most 15hp engine are supposed to idle at about 950rpms in neutral but again need the serial number to confirm.

To set the idle mixture you should screw the adjustement screw all the way in and then turn it out 1-5/8ths turns. I usually cheat out a little so i would put it at about 1-3/4s and go from there. If you have to turn it out much more than that the carb isnt completely clean and/or damaged.

The idle in neutral on that engine needs to be set at 1100rpms +/- 50 rpms.

Thank you... WOW..., that idle seems like the clutch dog is going to slam given that rpm!
