A dealer I've been talking to recently suggested I go with a Yamaha 150hp 4 stroke rather than a Honda 150. He said his customers have complained that the 150/135 Honda is not as smooth idling/running as it's big brothers (200hp + motors). Comments....

I'dd be interested to know how many of those customers he has had that complaint from and if you might be able to contact them. Then we might separate the wheat from the chaf.

Re: Honda 150hp not smooth?

Well, the owner seems like a good guy. He carries both Yamaha and Honda (plus several other brands) and most of his pontoons have the big Hondas on them. The pontoon I'm looking at is only rated for 150hp so he's not trying to push me to a bigger Honda motor. I was surprised to hear him say that about the Honda and was just wondering if anyone out there felt the same way. When the weather warms a bit I'll try to test one myself...

Either way you go you will be getting a quality product.Hondas 135/150s are a very recent introduction to the product line and some dealers, with good reason I might add ,tend to shy away from pushing this new product until they get some positive feedback. The Honda is a little tricky to rig so this may also be a staffing issue.I'dd find out about support and experience with the product before I commited to anyone.
