Honda 150 stalling

I have a 2004 Honda 150. Approx 4500 hrs on the motor and never had any work done to it except normal maint. Over the last year it has gotten to where I have to manually raise the idle when the motor is cold in order to warm it up and then it will idle fine. The biggest issue is when I put the motor in gear it will stall. Whether it is forward or reverse, I have to engage the the motor and immediately give it extra gas or it will stall. Any Idea on what this could be or should I simply adjust the throttle cable to raise the idle.

Welcome to the forums,

If you have a tach installed, check what's the factory setting at idle for that horse, if not, once engine is warm adjust idle screw CW or throttle cabe enough to hear a dry clack sound when gearing forward and engine dosesn't die in the intent. Readjust +,- if needed to achieve this condition.

Happy Boating

I cant figure out why mty tach doesnt work. It broke quite a long time ago so I just went and bought a new one and it doesnt work either. Once I figure that out I will try that ajustment. Agent 37 - motor runs like new other than stalling at idle.
