honda 15 sputters and dies

hi all, new here and hope someone can help me. i recently purchased a gently used 2006 honda 4 stroke 15. motor ran fine at the marina but when i tried to use it a couple of weeks later the motor would start and run fine for about 3-5 min then begin to ka-chug-ka-chug and then quit. tried new gas and fuel filter to no avail. any help would be appreciated.

There is a possibility that the engine is still under warranty. Check w/a Honda dealer.
That might have been the reason for someone to get rid of that new of a motor. Any idea who the previous owner was?
