A hose (blow-by?) running from the engine block to the air intake builds up pressure and then pops off at the air intake end. The engine idles fine whether this hose is connected or not. The only thing I can think of is to pull the air intake assembly and see if it is clogged behind the hose connection port. Appreciate any input. Thanks

Re: Honda 15 blow-by? hose pops off

Hi,

I had this problem with a second hand 1997/1998 (or thereabouts) BF15A. It was caused by the absence of a hole drilled through the boss on the plastic carburetor intake. Surprised to find this quality-control problem on a Honda, but was easily fixed by drilling out the boss and reattaching the tube. Before I discovered and fixed the problem I tied the breather tube at both ends with plastic ties, but blew out the oil level check rod at speed with some loss of crankcase oil.
