Re: Honda 130 compression for 2003

Those compression numbers can vary a great deal from guage to guage. With that said numbers around 200 psi on a quality guage are normal and any cylinder that falls below 17% of the others is cause for concern. After that a leakdown test is advised to find the source of the leakage and the repair could be as simple as a valve adjustment.Honda dropped that 130 recently only because they introduced the 135/150 line. They still make it,s 115 little sister.Great engines this vintage but had a few issues in the introductionary years. You are well beyond those.

I have had a 130 for about 2 years now. Other than oil changes, water pump kit and thermostat replaced l have had no problems. The previous owner used it in salt water but had all service records which was nice. Engine only had 360 hours on it as of August 1 2013 since then I have topped 600 in mostly freshwater.
