The motor starts fine, runs very well for a while and all of a sudden stops. Then it starts fine, runs well for a while and stops again.

I know this isn't detailed information, but any ideas of what it might be?

thanks in advance

Howdy, King.

Sounds like a restricted fuel supply to me.

What happens if you pump the primer bulb while she is running?

Could be tank venting, restricted pickup in the tank, air leak or restriction in the fuel lines or a weak fuel pump.

Even a bad primer bulb can cause similar problems.

Good luck. :)

Re: honda 115 question

Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I have pumped the fuel bulb while underway. The results are the same. I have replaced the fuel filter with no change in the outcome.

I was talking to someone and they suggested since the motor cut off in a quick manner, the problem might be something in the electrical system. What do yall think?

Re: honda 115 question

IMHO, and with utmost respect to JB, it's unlikely that a fuel restriction would cause the motor to stop, in your words, "all of a sudden" rather than causing it to sputter to a stop. Likewise, it's highly unlikely that a fuel restriction would clear itself so you could restart, then run well again, repeatedly. It's also highly unlikely that all four cylinders at the same time would lose either fuel or spark, to shut down suddenly. There's got to be something common to all four cylinders, and my thought is that JB is a little right and your friend is a little right, because what you describe seems to fit an electrical shutdown of the fuel pump. Suggest you check out the system relay. Look for a loose connection, or a bad or overheated contact. Measure that the contacts have good continuity and actuate when they should. If you can't find any problem, or don't know how to check out the relay, it might be time to consider seeing a good dealer. Good luck.

Has anyone thought about making sure that the "kill" switch lanyard is tight and the switch not malfunctioning?

Thank you for all the suggestions. I will make sure the electrical connections are not loose. I will check out the kill switch.

I appreciate the information. If this does not work I will have to drive about 120 miles to the nearest Honda mechanic.

Re: honda 115 question

Follow up.
I took out the batteries and cleaned the connectors. One had a little build up. I charged them and installed them. I looked over the kill switch and it appears to be working the right way. I cranked it up and it started up with no problems. This weekend will be the true test as we are hitting the lake.

Thanks again for the suggestions. Hopefully this will work.
