So the other day i was at my brother in laws place and we were looking over his boat. I noticed on the little reg. Sticker by the license number it said for manufacture "HOMEMADE". Now this boat is an older 16ft aluminum console boat. Obviously factory built . But i figured i would ask you guys what the deal is with that. Not looking to buy it . just that curiosity has got the better of me. Thanks sod breaker

welcome aboard

my guess is the paperwork was lost sometime in the boats history and in the past a "shortcut" was taken to obtaining a title and registration.

correct me here but if the boat is salvaged you can retitle as homemade? Keeping on that line what is a salvaged boat and how much restoration is required for restoration or a salvaged title?

I agree that at some point it met up with a lic snafu and it became a home made boat as a way of getting around the issue.

It also may be he simply didn't know the brand of the boat. For example my boat trailer is marked as homemade because we didn't know the brand
