Are you drunk?

That said, seems pretty common around here to have a winch set up at the cottage, particularly on lakes (reservoirs) that rise and fall by 10-15 feet annually.

Made by Naylor Systems...but I'm sure there are many other makes. Actually, I'm sure anyone with some basic welding and electrical skills could put one together for a fraction of the price.

Even cheaper, use your trailer and forget the rails. All you need is the winch, some cable, and electricity.

i dont have any pics of it, but when i was a kid, my parents lived on a private lake, and we had a boat trailer that rode on a track much like the one above, but they had the rails further apart, and just used the wheels on the trailer without tires. i cant rember what they did for the front of the trailer. their was a winch to pull it out. it worked out great.

Instead of the jack stand on your trailer why couldn't you make up a wide roller for the front and attach the trailer to a permanent winch stand and use the boat trailer to haul it up and out of the lake. Then you could also launch the boat by letting the cable out allowing the trailer and boat to roll down as far into the water as needed. Then just winch the empty trailer back up. If you mounted the new wide roller (maybe a foot wide) behind the existing jack stand. You could leave the existing stand right on the trailer in case you ever needed to trailer the boat. Then all you would have to do is unbolt the new wide roller and bracket. That would be a lot cheaper than going the other contraption. If you worried about the trailer drifting to one side or the other 4x4's or 6x6's layed parallel on the ground would guide the trailer.

seen a guy use 2 runs of 8" pvc with a 90 on each end that was sunk into the ground at each end with a cheap winch from northern tools and he just pulls the bass tracker up and then lowers it back down.

don't know the size of the boat, but try this: 3-4" diameter, 5' long wooden rollers (fence posts, round landscape timbers) on a track. Have three and put them under the boatas it rolls up or down--they are not attached. Also handy for building pyramids.
Use a block and tackle system, with or without a winch.
Mount a power winch to something solid.

If you were to power onto your trailer, would the thrust from your prop "accidentally" dig iit deeper? :)
