I have an old but decent shape Holsclaw I'm getting ready to haul to Fla. There was no washer under castle nut as I'm used to, but it appears to have been manufactured that way. The axle is slightly too short to get a washer and cotter pin in. The attached photo shows the back of the nut that appears to have been machined to act as a washer.
Can anyone verify if they came this way?
I bought new hubs but don't really want to go 1200 miles with a questionable trailer.
Thanks,

As long as the nut is only contacting the inner race of the bearing, you're good to go.
