most holley carbs have a location for a fuel filter in the fuel inlet. there are 3 different fuel bowl styles, and 2 of the 3 have the ability for a fuel filter in the inlet. this is usually for automotive applications

however most boats run a separate water separating fuel filter, so a carb filter is not needed.

the one I just took apart had a canister fuel filter by fuel pump and a screen in the inlet of carb

Yes (a screen as above), on this Holley they have the inline 'gold' filter where they connect to the fuel hose.

With a fuel/water separating filter, that small inlet filter is not needed
