Hello @ all
does anyone of you have a good adress for a reliable AND cheap dealer that installs a hitch in the area of Passaic, Montclair, Clifton, Paterson (New Jersey). I have heard that Uhaul does the sale and installation but i also heard some negative comments about the firm in general (e.g. not keeping appointments). I don't know if they do a good job. I tried to contact some local uhaul-stations but it was almost impossible to reach somebody. And if that miracle happened they were neither very helpful or motivated nor friendly. What about the brand of the hitch ? I heard about Putnam, Eaz-lift, Draw-Tite or Reese. Or is it a big deal to install it without any help (how long would that take for a 1994 Dodge Ram Van 1500?)

Thanks for your invaluable help.
Gordon

Re: hitch dealer

I went Pep Boys (I'm sure any auto parts store would work) and gave them the make and model of my truck. I purchased the hitch and went home and installed it. It was not too bad. It came with readible instructions, and I finished in about 2 hours. I'm sure you could do it.

Jason

I bought mine at NAPA and also installed it myself. Installation took about 2 1/2 hours, I had a few problems with rusted bolts. In any event, if you don't need the hitch right away, e-bay has a dealer with reasonable prices. The installation is pretty straight forward and requires only a basic knowledge of tools.

I agree with Crab Bait. Hidden Hitch has great deals . I just ordered a hitch for my Silverado . It has more accessories than I can name here. It was $170 with free shipping.

Gordan111, reguardless of where and what brand you buy, just make sure it is for your vehicle. That way the bolt pattern will match your truck.
And stick with a well used brand as Reese, Hidden Hitch and Draw Tite is a good brand also.
Just my .02 worth.
