g0ne - Does the HIN on the GA rego card match the HIN plate on the boat?

Try plugging your HIN into a decoder like this one to see if it computes - https://www.hindecoder.com/

Success! STRB31450876 is of the standard HIN type called Straight-Year HIN.

But Florida added F7 at the end for total of 14 characters on the title and I redid the hin plate during the resto so I guess thats my fault. Ill ha to call monday and see what they say.

Thanks for the help guys.

Success! :thumb::thumb::thumb:

I think the F7 is a model number that only means something to Starcraft.

Tape over the F7 on the HIN plate - What can go wrong? :rolleyes:

Or not, F7 is a model of a Alumacraft fishing boat, IIRC, a 14 ft'er, the F9 is a 16 ft'er.

Called and talked to La dept of boat registration people today. They had to talk to supervisor and call me back. She said since it is a 77' and i restored it to include hin plate with what is on the title they will do it minus the last two charcters which are F7. (Florida 70's???)

Any how thats a relief. I explained how i can prove Fl and Ga registered with same Hin on title but progressive ins. Had the same dilema but still insired it. So all is good to go and will be water legal here in La soon.

Last outing was good cause i had copy of application with me. You cant stop in anywhere to do this here. You have to use snail mail or go to baton rouge which is 100+ $ in gas money for me.

Only originally

If your state now requires titles or registration, they will issue you a new state supplied HIN, possibly only during an ownership transfer.

Exactly right, WA State requires a HIN now, no matter the year of the boat. They will assign the HIN and you have to sign swearing that you will affix it to the boat.

My SS has one of the Starcraft HINs that ends with a -F9
