Hiliner with Ford 289 and Volvo 270

I just picked up my first I/O boat. Its a 1968 Hiliner with a Holman-Moody setup consisting of a Ford 289 and Volvo 270 sterndrive. Its sat for the last 5 years in shrinkwrap. I put power to the starter and the motor turned easily, than I put it in gear and the prop turned easily. I plan to change all the fluids, flush the motor, change filters, plugs,etc and see if it will start. I would appreciate any info or opinions about this motor/drive setup, what I should do, or anything else. Also if anyone knows anything about the Hiliner 21 other than history, which is about all I can find, I would appreciate that too.

We've Refitted 4 Hi-Liner 221s,...........
Actually,. 2 are Done,+ the other 2 are In the Works,......

1 had a Merc. Mod.1, with a SBF,.... 351 I think,.. Maybe a 302......
2 had OMC Stringers,+ a SBC,....307cid......and a 350cid......
1 had a Volvo,+ a Ford,.......

All were Gutted,+ Repowered with Mercruisers,..... Alpha 1, Gen.IIs.......
1 started with a 4.3l,+ was Up-graded to a 5.7EFI.......
1 was put together with a 5.7l, MPI....... That's Why the 4.3l was Pulled......

These boats are owned by 2 Brothers,.......I work for 1 of them..........
It's getting Fun,..... Who's got the Fastest Hi-Liner,..??....??.....??.....

Anyway,....... I Don't Do Fords Or Volvos,............
But,....... I've Seen the Hulls from angles that Nobody Should have to See.......
What would you like to Know,..??.....

thanks for reply. Other than the things I plan to do before trying to start the motor, should I do anything else. I figure no sense in looking at options till I see if whats there works without a loud clunk. If all works I'd use as is till I could afford upgrade. In the meantime put what $ I have into other parts and enjoy it. Any sugestion where to get a dervice manual for the motor. I thought I could get one for th drive possibly online or Volvo?

Its a fresh water boat ?

If it was put away in good shape you may be supprised how well it works with just small things like a tuneup,new water pump impeller ,outdrive bellows ect

I'm pretty Sure that Don will be by,+ I'll bet He knows where to find the Manuals for the Drive,+ Possibly the Motor as Well.......

Let me Know,.... I know 2 Brothers who are somewhat Obsesive,+ have been Buying every Hi-Liner they've Found in the last couple of years..........
Atleast a couple of them came from over Your Way......
