I believe lakensea is referring to changing the tilt (the trim) of the engine. As he says, if the prop is tilted/trimmed out away from the boat, you will reach a point where the prop and exhaust is blowing up toward the surface. <br /><br />I am referring to the position your motor is mounted on the transom -- something which can't be altered quite so easily. The horizontal plate above the prop should be within an inch above or below the bottom of the boat when the motor is trimmed downward in such a way that the plate is on about level with the boat bottom. If correction is needed, either the transom will need to be altered or the motor will need to be mounted (remounted) on a "jackplate" which allows you to change the vertical height of the motor on the transom.
