High Wings of Water

I get a high wing of water off each side of the motor when I am half-throttle to full. I have never seen this "phenomenon" off any other boat. I have tried taking off the StingRay fin, I have adjusted the swing adjustment for planing and nothing gets rids of these plumes of water. Anyone have any suggestions?

sounds like the anti-ventilation plate might be a bit too high on the transom. Where is the plate in relation to the bottom of the boat?

Your engine is mounted too low on the transom. Raise the engine one hole at a time until you get too much prop blowout, then drop it down one.

I believe lakensea is referring to changing the tilt (the trim) of the engine. As he says, if the prop is tilted/trimmed out away from the boat, you will reach a point where the prop and exhaust is blowing up toward the surface. <br /><br />I am referring to the position your motor is mounted on the transom -- something which can't be altered quite so easily. The horizontal plate above the prop should be within an inch above or below the bottom of the boat when the motor is trimmed downward in such a way that the plate is on about level with the boat bottom. If correction is needed, either the transom will need to be altered or the motor will need to be mounted (remounted) on a "jackplate" which allows you to change the vertical height of the motor on the transom.

I am refering to raising the mounting height of the engine. It's quite simple - the engine's transom bracket will have 5 sets of mounting holes on it. Attach a suitable hoist to the engine, unbolt it, raise it up and reattach using proper bolt sealant.
